For years, I have watched talented independent artists do so much of the work right.
They make great music. They stay consistent. They build catalogs. They promote themselves. They keep creating even when the business side of music gives them very little back.
That never sat right with me.
My background in music came before my background in software. I started making music and producing in the late 1990s in Tacoma, Washington, and over the years, I worked with many artists, including some of the most talented people I have ever known.
One thing became clear early: great music is only part of the story.
Artists also need access, audience, business tools, momentum, and real opportunities. Too often, independent artists are expected to rely on systems that were never truly built around their success.
Later, I moved deeper into technology and software engineering, working on projects across entertainment, media, and large-scale systems. That experience taught me how serious platforms are built — how to think about architecture, scale, resilience, and long-term value.
But I never forgot what I learned from music.
Where MicBoxx Started
Back in 2020, I first started thinking seriously about MicBoxx as a music platform.
I could see a gap between artists and fans, and I believed there needed to be a better direct path between them. Not just another place to upload songs, but a place where artists could build stronger fan relationships, create direct revenue opportunities, and have more control over how they grow.
The first version of MicBoxx did not go the way I wanted. It depended on a third-party foundation that made progress difficult and limited the kind of platform I believed needed to exist.
So I made the decision to rebuild MicBoxx from scratch using the systems, experience, and technology I had developed over the years.
That is what I have been doing.
What MicBoxx Is Really About
MicBoxx was built around one core belief: independent artists deserve better tools, better economics, and a better chance to win.
The platform is being built for creators who want more than streams, algorithmic exposure, or another profile page. It is for artists who want ownership, direct connection with fans, and better ways to monetize the value they create.
That does not mean replacing every part of the music industry. It means creating another path — one that gives independent artists more leverage, more control, and more opportunity.
Where We Are Now
MicBoxx has soft-launched, and we are looking for founding creators: early artists who want to be part of shaping what this platform becomes.
This is still early, but the mission is clear: build better infrastructure for independent artists.
If you are an independent artist, or you know one, I would love for you to take a look.
